HSA
Using a health savings account (HSA) to pay for tapouts.
Can I use my HSA/FSA card at checkout?
- For compliance purposes, you can't use your HSA/FSA card at checkout at this time. Instead, you should use your regular credit or debit card and then submit it to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement using your receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity.
- Getting reimbursed is easy: just complete your purchase, take a quick health survey, and if eligible, you'll receive everything you need to submit a claim.
Do I need to complete the survey right after purchasing to be eligible for reimbursement?
- We recommend completing it on the same day as your purchase. Some HSA/FSA providers are stricter than others and may ask follow-up questions if the dates don't align exactly. Completing it on the same date helps avoid delays or denials.
How long does reimbursement take?
- In most cases, your reimbursement will be approved and processed within a few days after you submit your claim and documentation (this includes your receipt and Letter of Medical Necessity). Please note that timing may vary depending on your HSA/FSA provider.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?
- A Letter of Medical Necessity is a statement from a licensed healthcare provider that says tapouts is essential for your health and should be a covered medical expense, like a visit to the doctor's office or pharmacy.

Do I need a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) before I purchase?
- While you don't need a Letter of Medical Necessity to complete your purchase, you will need to complete the survey within 24 hours after purchase in order to qualify for reimbursement.
How does it work?
- A 2-minute survey will be emailed to you as part of our order confirmation. Complete the survey within 24 hours. If approved, you'll get an LMN via email. Once you receive your LMN, you can submit it to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement.
I already have a tapouts membership. Can I be reimbursed?
- To be eligible for reimbursement, you must complete the Letter of Medical Necessity survey within 24 hours of the charge. If you were charged more than 24 hours ago, you are not eligible for the Letter of Medical Necessity.
Can I claim my previous charges?
- We can provide you with previous invoices, however, it is up to your HSA/FSA provider for approval or reimbursement.
Are there fees associated with using Trumed services?
- Since tapouts is a Truemed partner, there's no cost to you.
What if my reimbursement is rejected by my HSA/FSA administrator?
- Not all applicants will be approved for a Letter of Medical Necessity by Truemed or for reimbursement by their HSA/FSA provider.
- Please contact Truemed at support@truemed.com if you have any issues with your reimbursement so that they can help troubleshoot.
